Hey everyone! Have we all recovered from that party? Whew! That was fun!
Anyway, I did some shopping at Dress Barn and found several jackets that would work great for our shape. Like all of these “I Would If I Could” posts, these are items that I would have bought if I didn’t already own something similar or if I needed it or if I had limitless money. Even though I’m not buying the item, it’s still an item that would work well for our shape. As we know, those items are hard to find, so I’ll alert you whenever I do find something. Ignore the schmutz on the mirror please!
This one is a really lightweight jacket and has a really flattering cut. If I didn’t already own a white jacket I totally would have bought it. I love the vertical/flattering zippers and the lapels that aren’t too big. Nancy, from the party post, also owns it and it looks great on her too. It’s also available in plus size.
I’m also pushing myself to try on different items that I wouldn’t usually purchase, just to see how they would look. This light vest will be good for warmer weather because you can still have coverage but keep cool too.
I think it adds a bit of glamour to anything you wore underneath. I could see it being perfect for an outside wedding or outside party — anyplace where you want to look a bit dressed up but still keep cool.
You’ve seen me wear my military style jacket before here and that style is still on trend this season. I am wearing the clearance winter version here in the micro-suede that has that stand-up collar I really think is flattering.
The purple one is no longer on their website though you may find it in your local store on clearance. Here is the olive-colored spring version. Dress Barn is great about larger sizes so they also have it in plus size here.
Do you remember the beautiful floral jackets I tried on in that shop in Detroit? Dress Barn has some similar ones. Straight size version here. I just saw them on their website and haven’t tried them on but if you stop by there they might be worth a try on!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Yeah, since I live in a smallish town Dress Barn is one of the few close options. They def seem to cater to our age and the variety of sizes that come with that!
Hi Julia….First of all let me say I love your style….and I have been inspired by your hair. I have been toying with bleaching my hair for the past couple months and trying to decide whether to go to a salon or diy. I would love “hear” about your color….how is it done? Thanks, Linda
Hi Linda! So my hair is naturally this color. It’s white at the roots but it turns blonde/yellow from the sun and our hard water so I have to either do a malibu to get the rust out or I go to a salon and they kind of “ash” it out, which I do about once or twice a year. Other than that it does it’s own thing!
Thanks for your reply…I think I’m going for it…so excited…btw…I’m an “apple” too! You have given so many good suggestions on how to wear perfect outfits. I will continue to be a fan.
Thank you Linda! Good luck on your hair!
I love the purple jacket on you I think it is your colour.
Thanks Pauline! I really like it on me too!
Yay for the white jacket – WITH pockets! Pockets make me absolutely giddy sometimes.
Hee hee! I agree Nancy!
