Hey everyone! If you are an apple shape, you know it is near impossible to find a coat that you can button up without having it be gigantic everywhere else. I never expect my jackets to button up and just buy them to fit my shoulders and the rest of my body. However, living in the north, I have to have a winter coat that buttons up. Luckily I have found one!
It’s from Anne Klein’s brand and I find she has several styles that fit our shape. Here is the link to this style and it has many color options including classic black and gray but also beautiful red and merlot.
Here is a link for a longer version in black if you’re interested in that style since I am 5′ 2″ you can see this short version works well for me.
I also discovered that leopard print goes really well with this blue so I wear these gloves a lot. I also have a really cute bright violet pair that I wear too. And my new purse goes really well with the coat!
I’m also wearing my boots that don’t have any heel to get around in this snow but also to keep my legs warm! They are a nice way to add style without having to worry about twisting your ankle in any kind of heel. They fit my wide calf (17″) well and allow me to wear some thick socks too. We have gotten a lot of snow and cold this December so they are my go-to boot right now. Happy Wednesday!

Julia!! That color is magnificent on you!
And you’re so right…the leopard goes great with it. I always think of leaopard with my reds and yellows, but I need to be more adventuresome with other color combinations!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family,

Thank you Jodie! Have a wonderful holiday yourself!
Gorgeous colors! Absolutely love!
And, BTW, another style “truism” bites the dust. I’ve read we apples should not wear double-breasted coats. Hmmm. Why. It looks fantastic on you!
Obviously that “truism” is written by a skinny fashion “expert”. Just like all the other “advice” for our shapes. Thanks for reminding us of taking those “rules” with a grain of salt!
That truism makes no sense anyway. The buttons form two columns of vertical-ness. Why would that NOT be flattering? Just goes to show. Wear what we like and determine for ourselves what looks good!
Oh my gosh, Julia….that coat is just beautiful, and agree with Jodie the color is perfect for you. I think that first picture of you in the snow is the best one you have ever posted! You need to frame that one.
Clicking on the link for the purse as soon as I type this….I have been looking for one like that.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Wow Susan! Thanks! I’m wearing this purse out this winter because it’s so darn cute! And have a wonderful holiday yourself!
Ditto everything everyone said. Cobalt is *your* color. You look stylish and comfortable–the perfect combination.
I’m not apple-shaped but I enjoy your perspective on clothes and fashion. Thanks for writing your blog.
Oh, thank you. Yes, that blue is like electricity for me. And I’m glad to know that other shapes are reading this blog and getting some benefit from these words. That makes me happy!
Electric blue is my favorite color. I used to have a coat like that years ago and someone “took” it out of the coat closet at work.
Oh no! What a bummer! Thank you for stopping by Evelyn!
Love the color and style of the coat! Just beautiful. Lucky you.
This is beautiful and in one of my favorite colors. Lucky you. You must get tremendous pleasure from this coat.
Thank you Ilse! I do wear it a ton and receive many compliments. Definitely my color.
