When The Boots Make The Outfit!

Hey everyone! Wow! what a showstopper these boots are! I wanted to glam up this little black dress and I’d say it is definitely glammed!

Plus Size Black Dress | www.whenthegirlsrule.comI know, it’s the beautiful color that is the eye-catcher but these boots are glamorous in other subtler ways. The heel has gold trim plus the suede and they have a little gold medallion on the ankle.

Plus Size Black Dress | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I love details like this! And they match so well with my fancy clutch (which is 1/2 off at the moment)!

Plus Size Black Dress | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

As you know my calves are wide (17 inches) but are shapely. So many times wide calf boots are made like tree trunks with no shape at all. This version is shapely with the boot tapering in at the ankle and knee. I bought the wide calf version which says it has 16 inch circumference but it has stretched enough for my 17 inch calves. Ugh, as I’m writing this I see they’ve sold out! I’m sorry! If they’re this popular (I just got them last week!) perhaps they’ll re-stock them so keep checking back and I’ll keep checking too and let you all know when they’re back in stock. So frustrating to finally find a great pair to recommend and they are sold out!

Plus Size Black Dress | www.whenthegirlsrule.comIf you’re looking for tall boots to fit a wide calf, I find the faux suede fabric usually has more stretch. The stiff real leather is the least stretchy and less shapely. If you’re looking online and you have slim ankles, like I do, look for the heel of the boot to look like it’s sticking out in the back like this. This indicates the ankle has some tapering.

Plus Size Black Dress | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

These boots rise to just above my knee — a new height for me. This is a great way to ease into the taller boots if you’re intimidated by the mid-thigh versions. If you’re not ready for any over the knee version, the same brand has a black bootie with the gold trim and a black and gold brocade pair that are really tempting and eye-catching! This is going to be fun to style these taller boots!

My Post-Feasting Outfit!

Hey everyone! So, after I said last Monday that I would be more professional and keep to my blogging schedule of posting Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I went completely off the rails and didn’t post at all! Ack! If you’re a regular reader you knew I was going to have a crazy week with multi-state travel, relatives, horses and more, so writing two more posts seemed a bit of a pipe dream. However, in my non-blog world, everything else worked out great! We closed on our house in North Carolina on Monday without a hitch and I finally got to see it! It is so cute with lots of windows and wood floors and a new kitchen. It also has the most beautiful magnolia tree in the backyard. I currently live in a 1913 farmhouse that we have remodeled from top to bottom and we have always had a project on our to-do list. This new house is a midcentury modern ranch that only needs minor work to get it the way we want. I don’t know what we’re going to do with all of our free time! Perhaps add another day to my blogging schedule? We’ll see how disciplined I will be!

Casual Outfit for a Curvy Woman! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

We safely brought our daughter’s horse back to Michigan from North Carolina and I hosted Thanksgiving for my family. My sister and her husband and three boys always stay with us for a couple of days which is a blast but complete chaos! My brother and his two daughters and my mom were here too for Thanksgiving so I had a full house. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Casual Outfit for a Curvy Woman! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

As you can imagine we all ate and drank too much (and talked and laughed!) for several days straight. We even got in a round of roller skating! So, needless to say after all that feasting I’m feeling like a complete chub — thank goodness for this outfit!

True confessions here: I ordered these skinny jeggings in a size larger than I usually do (size 12 short). I guess I like the look of skinny but not the feel of skinny! Since these are “traditional” waist jeggings rather than my “control top” ones, (if you have no idea what I’m talking about you can read what I mean here), I just couldn’t bear the thought that they would be skinny-tight, even though the fabric has lots of stretch. Would I recommend buying a size larger? No. Because they give me weird wrinkles on my legs and behind my knees. Are they easy to wear? Yes. I’ve washed them once and they’ve shrunk a little and I don’t notice the lines on my legs as much anymore but the fit isn’t great. I’ll be keeping these jeggings for those days when I’m feeling especially chubby and want something looser to wear, especially after the week I’ve just had! Plus, I just received a new pair of over the knee (OTK) boots and these work fabulously with them. These jeggings are also available in plus size and long.

Casual Outfit for a Curvy Woman! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

Ok, so the other part of pants that I don’t like as an apple-shaped woman, is how the button part of the waistband sticks out, especially when I’m wearing a soft pretty sweater like this one. I wear a spandex camisole underneath the sweater and pull it over the top of the waistband to keep the button area from sticking out. I don’t like tight camisoles, like shapewear, because really, where is that extra flesh going to go? I once tried a shapewear top that promised I would get a smaller waist because it would shape my waist inwards. Unfortunately it ended up just pushing my side body into the front and I looked very pregnant. The extra flesh doesn’t get squished inwards, like you’re led to believe. Perhaps if you just want a little shaping it could help? I don’t know. For my size shapewear isn’t going to change anything. So, I look for a smoothing fabric that tamps down the button and lets the sweater skim over my undergarments and torso. This camisole looks similar to what I wear and I always look to see that it says the “slimming level” is light. I don’t want to feel like a sausage in casing and I have no illusions that fabric is going to change my shape into something I am not, so I choose comfort.

This sweater tunic comes in 5 different colors though I’m not seeing the blue as an option any more (edit: just found it here!). And I’m finishing off this comfortable outfit with my beautiful pumpkin purse and my wool sneakers that my daughters keep stealing and wearing!

Gosh, I can tell I’ve been away from this blog because I’m super chatty today! I will be back on Wednesday with those OTK boots. I promise!

Holiday Dress With Glamour!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! I’ve actually had some downtime this weekend so I thought I’d be professional and actually keep to the regular schedule of the blog. Plus, I wanted to show you all this pretty dress before it’s gone because it’s on sale now!Outfit for Curvy Woman with Apple Shape! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

It’s navy blue which is a nice alternative to the little black dress if you feel black doesn’t work with your coloring. This is that nice ponte fabric that hangs nicely and skims the bumps and lumps but still has some stretch. Check out the pretty lace sleeves and hem! Very stylish but in an elegant, under-stated way! It’s also available in a more turquoise blue and ivory plus a very similar style with different lace on the sleeves in black, red and green. Perfect for the upcoming holidays!

Outfit for Curvy Woman with Apple Shape! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

Now, do you want to take it up a notch?

Outfit for Curvy Woman with Apple Shape! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

This sweater vest is perfect if you want a little more coverage or warmth but don’t want to look like you put on a schlumpy sweater. Look at this faux fur collar! Glamorous and warm and a way to make an entrance! The fur also buttons off if you want to use the vest for a more casual outfit. It’s available also in black and in plus sizes.

Outfit for Curvy Woman with Apple Shape! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

If you are loving the fun sleeves that are showing up everywhere now then I’d recommend getting some sort of vest (or sleeveless blazer I hear the younger women are calling them) so you can show off the sleeves but keep covered where you would like to be covered. This vest will be nice because it’s a sweater material it will transition easily to casual outfits. Plus, it hangs very flatteringly.

Outfit for Curvy Woman with Apple Shape! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I hope you’re seeing some holiday dress-up ideas here on the blog because I know that can be a hard category to find a nice outfit. Even if you just added this glamorous vest to items you already have you will be looking more dressy and glamorous!

I’m having a great time in North Carolina! I’m eating such good food in Asheville and just walking around has been fun. We don’t have many hills in Michigan, let alone mountains, so this change in scenery is so exhilarating! I’ll also be closing on my new house and getting my first in-person look at it! I’ll be showing some of it on Instagram. We’re heading back to Michigan on Tuesday so that long drive will be not so much fun. Oh well, I’m with my husband and eldest daughter so we all get to take turns driving the 12 or so hours while hauling a horse back in the trailer. Lots of bonding time! Ok everyone, have a good Monday and I’ll try to continue to be professional and get a blog post up on Wednesday!

Blogging and Ethics!

Hey everyone! I am on my way down to North Carolina to see my eldest daughter and husband as you read this! I’m going to be closing on my new house (!), visiting Asheville and hauling a big horse back up to Michigan between now and Tuesday! Whew! You can follow me on Instagram to see all of this.

Anyway, I wanted to write about some ethical issues that I have noticed while blogging. I’ve been thinking about this for a while but since I was invited, free of charge, to see/review the movie Lady Bird on Monday, it got me thinking and I wanted to explain my position.

As my blog readership has grown, I’ve started to be approached by companies who want me to recommend their products and write about them here. Two companies have offered to pay me for a sponsored post. I responded that I needed to see their product first and go through their ordering process before I recommend it. One told me they “can’t” send me a complimentary item but couldn’t I just still write about them? No. The second company told me they will either send me a free item or pay for the sponsored post, but not both. I said no thanks. I don’t work for clothes. As you can imagine, being a fashion blogger, I have more than enough clothes. I’m also not going to recommend something that I’ve never seen.

Outlander! Cotton and I recommend it!

I’ve also been approached by several companies who want to do some sort of collaboration and I’ve looked at their items and thought they looked cheap or unflattering for our shape or the company looked sketchy. I have turned them all down.

And as you can see, I don’t allow advertising on my site. I get approached often and I hear it is a good way to make money but I am not willing to sell my website real estate or my reader’s eyes. I don’t like it when I go to a website and have to wade through pop-up ads and blinking side bars to read an article so I don’t want my readers to have to do that either. I like the simple, peaceful feel of my site. Now, I don’t begrudge any other blogger who does any of that. It’s a free country and everyone has their own priorities. I just know what I want on my blog.

So, my pledge to you:

Every blog post is 100% written by me and is my honest opinion.

If I don’t like something, it won’t be on this blog, or if it is, it’s because we’re discussing why I don’t like it.

If, in the future, I do have advertising or collaborations, it will be because I think it is a good item for my readers and I have personally seen it and would buy it myself.

I don’t sell my readers or my integrity.

So, that’s it. My integrity is non-negotiable and my opinion is my own and you can continue to expect that.

And may I say, I 100% recommend watching Outlander for the perfect mix of adventure, history and romance! Ha!

I’m not sure if I’ll have time to write a post between now and Thanksgiving so if you don’t hear from me, I wish you all a love and joy-filled holiday!

Mothers And Daughters!

Hey everyone! I was invited to a pre-screening of the movie Lady Bird on Monday night as part of the press and it was so enjoyable! If you’re a mom with a daughter, especially if she’s a teen, you will recognize yourself and get all the jokes. The teen daughters will be able to relate too as I heard the teen girls around me laughing and crying.

excellent movie

I found it so refreshing to see everything from this determined young woman’s perspective. It seems like the perfect movie to go to over the holidays with your family (if your kids are teens or older — there is some sex) and it’s not just a chic flick because I think men will enjoy it too.

Jacket for a curvy woman | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

So, on to outfits! Have you been seeing the shearling trend? It’s that white wool look on the inside of jackets and at cuffs. I like the look but in my 50 years I’ve seen this style come and go. This jacket is a low cost option to get in on the shearling trend without buying an expensive coat that may be out of style in a few years. The faux shearling wool has come a long way and adds to the look without adding to the weight (and cost!). A plus size version is available. And what? I can zip it up! I’m showing more pictures than I usually do so you can see it zipped and unzipped.

Jacket for a curvy woman | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I’m wearing another cozy sweater. This one has a bit of texture which I always like because it helps camouflage any waistband issues and bra hardware. It’s another lightweight tunic so easy to layer. I actually found this one to run a bit large (I’m wearing XL) so if you’re a bit bigger than me it can work well, especially in the sleeves. So, as I write this I see it’s sold out. It is the same as this sweater and this one that I wore last week just with a different neckline and without the textured lines.

Jacket for a curvy woman | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

Don’t worry I haven’t put away my pumpkin purse! I’m just giving it a break and really enjoying this purse at the moment! If you like the bag but don’t want to roll the dice with what color the metal will be, here is a less-bejeweled option.

Jacket for a curvy woman | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

The boots are a couple of years old so I can’t find them any longer. However, they are from Bare Traps and are completely faux leather which gives them stretch to fit my 17″ calves. Here and here are very similar options from the same brand with the same material if you’re looking for a wide calf boot.

Jacket for a curvy woman | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I’m wearing my jeggings which to me seem just like regular pants and not the usual tight jeggings. I love them because they do not wrinkle no matter how long they’ve been sitting at the bottom of a pile (or so I’ve been told!).

And this is how a photo shoot comes to an end with little critters getting involved!

If you read my blog and don’t just look at the pictures, you know I’m picking up my youngest daughter today from the airport. I haven’t seen her (in person) in three months and can’t wait! My exile in Siberia is over! Ha ha, that’s how I’ve been describing it as my husband and eldest are both in North Carolina and my youngest was in France. I’ve been here caring for the farm and the animals in Michigan and now I’ll have my youngest who is a big help, though I don’t think she’s looking forward to it. It’s hard to top traveling in Europe with cleaning horse stalls in rural Michigan! But, that’s too bad because I can’t wait to have her company and hear her stories! Oh mothers and daughters!

I Would If I Could…Cozy Sweaters!

Hey everyone! I’ve purchased a couple of cute sweaters this fall as you’ve seen (and will be seeing) here on the blog. However, I’ve found many more that I would have bought if money grew on trees! As with all of these “I Would If I Could” posts these are items I recommend and would have bought for myself. So, if you’re looking for a new sweater, and have a shape similar to mine, then have a look at these!Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

This sweater is from Anne Klein and drapes nicely. It’s fun how the sleeves are fitted around the lower half of the arm then get the poncho/dolman sleeve look. Really cozy for the upcoming holidays! It’s also available in plus size and  greatly reduced in price right now! For some reason I’m not able to link to the exact sweaters so put in Anne Klein sweaters in the search bar to find them. Erg!

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

And yes, that pretty burgundy sweater hanging in the background is going to be featured on the blog soon! It’s adorable!

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

This one is a lighter weight sweater made of cotton (similar to the one I wore here) so will be better if you overheat easily.

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

It’s a nice length too for wearing with leggings and keeping all the lady parts covered!

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

This is a shorter sweater so I wouldn’t wear with leggings but it would look cute with jeans or a skirt. It’s available in plus size and one with metallic threads as well as several other colors.

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

This sweater is from Ann Taylor. I love the wallpaper of their changing rooms! Anyway, this is a wool cashmere cardigan.  They also have it in ivory.

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

A similar sweater without the cashmere is available in black with a gray collar. It’s 40% off right now!

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

And did you see it has pockets?

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

The next one is from Loft. This sweater has some texture which I always like. It’s also available in black and ivory.

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

And the mirror isn’t clean so that’s why it looks like a blot on the sweater!

Sweaters for Curvy Women | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I told you I found lots of other sweaters! I know shopping is hard when you have a shape like mine because it feels like they totally don’t design for our shape (which is mostly true). I try on lots and lots of items to get these few. I figure if I’m going to go in and disrobe I better have a lot to try on! Seriously I usually try on 10-15 items at one go and maybe come out with one that works. Don’t get discouraged! If you don’t love it, don’t buy it because there is something out there that will fit, look good on you and you will love. I hope this helps some!

It’s Definitely Sweater Weather!

Hey everyone! It is nineteen degrees here as I write this with the windchill at nine degrees (that’s Fahrenheit for all my non-American readers). Yikes! We got our first snowfall last night and it’s always exciting when we get our first snow. However, it loses it’s appeal quickly, usually right after the holidays for me. We’ve had a beautiful fall though and I went out to my garden on Wednesday and picked three tomatoes! They were underneath a burdock leaf (no commenting about why there is burdock growing in my garden!) so had been protected from the two frosts we’ve had. My garden had been exceptionally lame this year since I was so focussed on getting the house ready for sale this spring so I only ended up planting a few tomato plants. Crazy to be picking tomatoes in November!

Curvy Woman Outfits! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

So, now it’s time to pull out the sweaters! I have to say I feel a little bit like Robin Hood in this outfit! I don’t wear green very often which I’m not sure why since I like the color just fine. My mom wears a lot of green (she’s 100% Irish. Hi Mom!) I just gravitate towards blue more. Probably because of my blue eyes. Anyway, this sweater is a wool and cashmere mix so it’s not heavy or itchy. I know I sound like a broken record, but it skims without clinging and I feel comfortable wearing it without a third piece over it. I do wear a spandex camisole underneath to keep the waistband of the leggings from becoming a focus point. The sweater is available in 14 different colors and right now is 30% off!

Curvy Woman Outfits! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

When I pulled out my winter clothes, including my purses, I noticed my non-descript, old, low-cost black purse was looking pretty worn. Also, as I was looking at my Instagram photos, my pumpkin purse was such a scene stealer that I thought I should find something a little bit tamer when I want to show off the clothes more. This one was on sale and I love the classic structure of the bag coupled with the added edginess of the little studs on the handle and tassel. I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Une Femme d’une Certain Age, and she was talking about seeing metallic embellishments and studs on shoes in Paris this fall, which leads me to believe this trend will be coming in hot next year in the states. Not that I’m a total trend follower, but I don’t want something I spend a lot of money on to look outdated in a year. Plus, the studs feel pretty cool on the handles!

Curvy Woman Outfits! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

Keep in mind when ordering this bag that it says in the description and images, that it is silver metal, but I actually received gold metal. Was I surprised? Yes. Was I unhappy? No. I think this bag will look great with my booties that have the little bit of gold on the heel. So, I’m not sure what color of metal you will be sent. It’s a roll of the dice!

Curvy Woman Outfits! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

These leggings are several years old and are starting to get worn out which means they will be exclusively used as pajamas (what? No. I did not just say I sometimes wear these as pajamas!). I added my knee-high boots that are going on two years old and my scarf from last year. Leopard print is really popular right now so this is a low-cost way to get in on the trend!

Have a great weekend everyone and stay warm!

Mixing Old And New!

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a good week! I am preparing for my youngest daughter’s return next Wednesday which then is the start of a busy few weeks for me. After she returns, I’ll have someone else who can take care of the farm which frees me up to go down to North Carolina. I will be driving the truck and horse trailer to pick up my eldest daughter’s horse and will be bringing him back to Michigan. While I’m down there we will also be closing on our new house and yes, I’ll finally get to see it in person! I hope it’s as nice as I’ve seen on this computer! In between all of that, my husband and I are taking the weekend to explore Asheville, NC which is supposed to be pretty cool and I’m looking forward to taking lots of pictures and reporting back to you all. Oh, and then I’m hosting Thanksgiving back in Michigan with my extended family. Let’s just say I’m enjoying the calm before the storm this week!

Curvy Woman Fashion! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

On to clothing! In the past, I’ve bought items that could only be worn one way or with only one top or bottom and those items rarely got worn. Even if they were cheap to buy, the cost-per-wear was actually high. When I buy something now I make sure it works in at least three different outfits before it’s brought home!

Curvy Woman Fashion! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

You’ve seen all of this before in different combinations. The sweater I own in black, gray and burgundy. I also own a summer version in white. I love the length and the fabric and how flattering the collar falls.

Curvy Woman Fashion! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com
Without the scarf so you can see the top better

I’m wearing “The Fixer” top (if you have no idea what I’m talking about you can read about it here). I have underneath it a long sleeve cotton shirt that is very soft but getting a little worn looking. I popped “The Fixer” over it and now I’m still able to get the benefits of the cotton undershirt without looking faded! The undershirt is the same color as “The Fixer” so the lace is subtle. It’s also available in black too which is very pretty and would look quite dramatic with a contrasting colored shirt underneath.

Curvy Woman Fashion! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

The jeans you’ve seen before. They are a break from my skinny jeans with a looser fit in the leg and are a soft white (vanilla actually) that works well with the fall colors. They have a curvy version as well. The runners are my new wool ones that I am still wearing sockless. They are so soft I intentionally take my socks off to feel the fabric. So far, they are holding up well to constant wear! Oh, and of course, the purse!

So, feel free to mix up your clothing items to get new combinations. It will extend your wardrobe like crazy! Also, if you’ve been to Asheville, NC I’d love to hear your recommendations in the comments. Thanks!

My Weekend Adventure Outfit!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend. My girlfriend and I visited the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit and really enjoyed ourselves. Detroit has a thriving Mexicantown where we had a delicious dinner afterwards at El Barzon (this is for all the locals reading this blog!). The Mexicantown part of Detroit was one of the few areas of the city that stayed alive with businesses and community during the several decades when Detroit was down on its luck. Now, Detroit is getting back on it’s feet and has a lot of interesting places to visit and eat, but El Barzon is still one of my absolute favorites! The flan!

Over 40 Apple-Shaped Blogger! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

Anyway, this is the outfit I wore. Everything you have seen before. Actually the newest item is this shirt with this great print. It’s a perfect “skim not cling” fabric and the pattern gives nice camouflage. It’s also sleeveless, so easy to wear under a sweater or jacket and still keep your cool!

Over 40 Apple-Shaped Blogger! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I can wear these booties all day. I love the bit of gold at the heel. You’ve seen them a ton here because I love wearing them! The clutch was perfect for this outing. Unfortunately it is sold-out but there are similar ones here and here though you can keep checking back because sometimes they re-stock. I know, I need to add to my clutch collection. I actually have one ordered that would have looked great with this outfit so we’ll see how it looks in person when I receive it!

Over 40 Apple-Shaped Blogger! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

And the jeans you’ve seen many times. These are from White House Black Market. They have a lot of stretch but I do end up pulling them up more than I want to or I have to wear a belt. I think because they’re tight in the leg they get pulled down more and they’re short in the midsection area so they end up sitting below my stomach which often means they will slip down. White House Black Market just got plus-sizes (about time!) so I’m going to go check them out and see if their jeans have had any changes. I love these jeans and how they look, but I really don’t want to be bothered by pulling them up all the time or having to wear a bulky belt. If you’re wearing bootcut or flare jeans, wearing a heel and having the hem hit almost the ground is the style now so keep that in mind when deciding what shoes to wear.

Over 40 Apple-Shaped Blogger! | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

You may recall this post where I talked about wearing your unusual items or “statement pieces”. Since these are our more funky or edgy or “out-there” items we probably don’t wear them to work. Visiting a museum or an art event or even a girl’s night out is the perfect occasion to bring these out. I find I’m always wearing this jacket to museums because I like the length and think the sewing is interesting and flattering, but, I would probably not wear this to the grocery store!

Alright, enough about my weekend! I hope you have a great week and I’ll see you here on Wednesday!

Jeans & A Sweater That Are Perfect For An Apple-Shape!

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Today I’m wearing a sweater from Chico’s. It fits well, is on-trend and will be very versatile with jeans and skirts. Oh, and it’s pretty too!

Over 40, apple shape fashion | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

This sweater is a cotton blend, so it’s not heavy at all. It has the pretty embroidery which is all the rage right now. It even has a wider sleeve, but it ends above the wrist so the fabric doesn’t get in the way and it has a tie so you can tighten it so it will fit around your elbow instead. I appreciate those thoughtful details. It also has a nice collar for wearing scarves instead of a necklace.

Over 40, apple shape fashion | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

These pants are similar to the pants I wore here. They are by NYDJ (Not Your Daughter’s Jeans) which I have several pairs including the shorts I wore a ton this summer that fit really well. However this pair and the last pair have been too big in the waist. I know! If you are an apple shape you know that that never happens. I was really bummed because they fit so well everywhere else and I have been on the look out for an olive colored pair all fall (these are available in 6 colors!). But, this is good news for anyone who has a wider midsection than me! I’m wearing the 16 petite here and you can go to the “About” section for my measurements to see if these may work for you. Items like this don’t come around often and right now it’s 40% off!

Over 40, apple shape fashion | www.whenthegirlsrule.com

I’ve added my leopard print flats I’ve shown many times before that I really like wearing with slim legged pants, especially ankle length pants and my pumpkin purse (of course!).

So, I am on the countdown until my youngest daughter gets home from studying abroad in less than two weeks!  She has had an amazing trip but her mom will be glad to see her. My empty, empty-nest has had some positives aspects but I’m ready to have others in the house besides me and the animals! In fact, there will be one day this month that all 4 of us will be together for one day and that hasn’t happened in over 6 months! Then there won’t be anymore pictures of me looking at my phone. I’ve done that pose enough for one blog! Have a great weekend everyone!
