Fall Casual!

Hey everyone! As you know, especially if you’re built like me, finding a one piece top that looks good isn’t easy. To get it large enough to go over your bust and midsection without clinging and without looking like a tent is a rarity. I usually stay away from tops called “swing tops” but this one I liked!Fall colors for a tunic and cargo pants

I definitely prefer to wear a third piece, like a sweater or jacket over a top, but there are casual days or hot days when I don’t want to and would like to have options. This girl deserves options! Here is the link to the top in this fall’s “in” color of plum, since my shirt is several years old.

This shirt works because of the drape of the fabric. It is a stretchy blend of 95% rayon and 5% spandex and is a bit heavier so it drapes without billowing around. I’m really finding that rayon is a good fabric for skimming without clinging and without billowing. I’m going to start paying more attention to the fabric content from now on.

I’m wearing my pink flats that you saw here in the spring. I want to get my money’s worth so I’m wearing them a lot before it starts to get cold, though I suspect these will still be in style next spring so you’ll probably see them again. Similar flats here and here.

You’ve also seen these cargo pants before here. I like them because they have the look of cargo pants without big pockets on my thighs and they’re in a fresh green here and rust here. I’ve added a pretty fall scarf to pull this outfit together and voila! A casual fall outfit.

  1. I’m big busted and you are right, it can be hard to find a top that fits properly. I also have to stay within office dress codes. I pay a lot of attention to fabric – first, because if it look too much like a T shirt it might not “pass”, but also because I’ve somehow never figured out how to wash rayon. It looks great until it’s washing time. Now, if I could wear a top all winter without washing it, rayon would work for me, but I don’t think that will ever happen.

  2. Actually I don’t think it is a casual outfit. Ihi k it is elegant. When I opened the post and saw the first picture I said to myself: she got it 100% right. Love this outfit. Very clever what you did with that pretty scarf.
