I Would If I Could…More Fun Items!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! So, I know I’ve been doing a lot of these “scouting” trips finding clothing that works for our apple shape and presenting them here on these “I Would If I Could” posts. Even though I don’t buy them myself, I still recommend them if you have a shape similar to mine. Just because I already have reached my quota of gray sweaters, doesn’t mean you have! Since I like to keep this blog grounded in reality, I freely admit I cannot afford to buy everything I find. However, I don’t want to limit the choices for you just because of my financial limitations! Consider me the scout passing on the info from my recon!

So, anyway, this top caught my eye with the fun pattern. It sort of reminds me of a french circus from the olden days when the circus would travel from village to village. I don’t know why. The sleeves remind me of a jesters sleeves so maybe that’s it. They have elastic at the wrist, so it’s easy to pull them up to your elbow or wear them full length.

How cute is this ruffle at the bicep? Since these fun, dramatic sleeves are everywhere, I think it’s wise to invest in a vest so you can show off the sleeves but keep more coverage if you so desire. I may have to look into that!

This is a perfect example of the fabric skimming not clinging — a must for me!

This top is heavier fabric which also works great for skimming not clinging. The sleeves are 3/4 length so even though there is more fabric there they won’t get in the way of using your hands.

It’s also available in a pretty burgundy and black if you’re interested.

And is anyone going someplace dramatic this fall? Maybe an art event or fancy place? If so, this jacket from Anne Klein from Macy’s here would be a show-stopper! The proportions fit well in the shoulders and arms and it has pockets. It reminds me of the art of Keith Harding. They also have it in a beautiful fabric here that is less colorful but still a statement piece. I’m unable to link to the individual jackets so just search for Anne Klein Jackets at the Macy’s website and they both should come up.

So besides doing a lot of shopping lately it’s also a lot easier getting photos done this way. My husband/photographer will be home in a week and a half for 11 days so I will be getting lots of outfits photographed during that time. In the meantime, I’ll keep doing recon and sending back scouting reports!

  1. Hi Julia,
I wanted to tell you how much I love your blog. Actually, I am a pear shape, but I am so inspired by your fashion choices. I can wear many of the things that you suggest too! I love fashion of any shape or style and it is so nice to be able to watch your style evolution.

    1. Thank you so much Susan! I never thought of it as a style evolution but now that you mention it, I have changed how I shop and what I look for. I also feel like I can take more fashion risks b/c I’ve got the basics down. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!

    2. You would make ordinary events dramatic if you wore that coat! I love it, and it would look great with jeans as well…
