Mothers And Daughters!

Hey everyone! I was invited to a pre-screening of the movie Lady Bird on Monday night as part of the press and it was so enjoyable! If you’re a mom with a daughter, especially if she’s a teen, you will recognize yourself and get all the jokes. The teen daughters will be able to relate too as I heard the teen girls around me laughing and crying.

excellent movie

I found it so refreshing to see everything from this determined young woman’s perspective. It seems like the perfect movie to go to over the holidays with your family (if your kids are teens or older — there is some sex) and it’s not just a chic flick because I think men will enjoy it too.

So, on to outfits! Have you been seeing the shearling trend? It’s that white wool look on the inside of jackets and at cuffs. I like the look but in my 50 years I’ve seen this style come and go. This jacket is a low cost option to get in on the shearling trend without buying an expensive coat that may be out of style in a few years. The faux shearling wool has come a long way and adds to the look without adding to the weight (and cost!). A plus size version is available. And what? I can zip it up! I’m showing more pictures than I usually do so you can see it zipped and unzipped.

I’m wearing another cozy sweater. This one has a bit of texture which I always like because it helps camouflage any waistband issues and bra hardware. It’s another lightweight tunic so easy to layer. I actually found this one to run a bit large (I’m wearing XL) so if you’re a bit bigger than me it can work well, especially in the sleeves. So, as I write this I see it’s sold out. It is the same as this sweater and this one that I wore last week just with a different neckline and without the textured lines.

Don’t worry I haven’t put away my pumpkin purse! I’m just giving it a break and really enjoying this purse at the moment! If you like the bag but don’t want to roll the dice with what color the metal will be, here is a less-bejeweled option.

The boots are a couple of years old so I can’t find them any longer. However, they are from Bare Traps and are completely faux leather which gives them stretch to fit my 17″ calves. Here and here are very similar options from the same brand with the same material if you’re looking for a wide calf boot.

I’m wearing my jeggings which to me seem just like regular pants and not the usual tight jeggings. I love them because they do not wrinkle no matter how long they’ve been sitting at the bottom of a pile (or so I’ve been told!).

And this is how a photo shoot comes to an end with little critters getting involved!

If you read my blog and don’t just look at the pictures, you know I’m picking up my youngest daughter today from the airport. I haven’t seen her (in person) in three months and can’t wait! My exile in Siberia is over! Ha ha, that’s how I’ve been describing it as my husband and eldest are both in North Carolina and my youngest was in France. I’ve been here caring for the farm and the animals in Michigan and now I’ll have my youngest who is a big help, though I don’t think she’s looking forward to it. It’s hard to top traveling in Europe with cleaning horse stalls in rural Michigan! But, that’s too bad because I can’t wait to have her company and hear her stories! Oh mothers and daughters!

  1. Looking good – that looks such a comfy sweater and a great colour on you. Living in Shetland I tend to wear a lot of sweaters and cardigan too and layer everything to cope with the lower temperatures – and then add a scarf! Have fun seeing your youngest daughter 🙂

  2. That outfit looks amazing on you. I’m definitely going to try to find that jacket and see if it works as well for me. Have a wonderful time with your daughter. My out-of-town son and daughter will be here Monday and I’m so excited I could bust and cry and laugh and….well let’s just say I know how you feel.

  3. Thanks for the suggestion for the movie!! It sounds fabulous!!
