So Close To Normal!

Hey everyone! Happy May! How are you enjoying this month? It is beautiful here, which is good since Michigan only has one, maybe two months of spring so I am appreciating it. Especially since these are my last few days here on this farm.

Everyone doing ok? Everyone able to get their vaccine? Isn’t it a great feeling to be vaccinated? I don’t worry about going to the store any more and it is starting to get back to normal. We got together with completely-vaccinated relatives this weekend we haven’t seen since before the pandemic and we all hugged! I know we are all ready to put this pandemic behind us, so encourage your vaccine-hesitant friends and family to get the shot so we all can be safe and get back to normal!

And back to normal today with an outfit. What? Shopping? Clothes? What site am I on? Ha ha! Yeah, weird for me too. Especially since I barely shopped in the last 15 months or so. Didn’t really need to, did I?

Well, don’t get used to this because I will not be shopping as much as I did before. I just don’t feel the need to do it anymore. I feel like I can manage just fine with fewer clothes, but the clothes have to work 100%. Not 75 or 80%. But, 100% in fit, color, comfort and how I feel in it.

So, here’s my take on these outfits:

These capris are going to be my summer pants. Comfortable. Lightweight. Not shiny at all. They don’t slide down at the waist, in fact I can pull them up and over my tummy they have that much stretch. I even bought size large petite instead of my usual size XL. Believe me, I haven’t lost any weight, quite the opposite, but I thought I’d try the large to see if they stayed up better and they do. They are available in a bunch of different colors so I’m definitely going to get another, or two. I can already tell I’m going to wear them a ton this summer since they’re thin and a nice alternative to shorts. I’m ordering the white and gray pairs as I write this!

This top I like and it fits well, but I’m still deciding whether to keep it. The strings are supposed to hang down but it was windy and they seemed to have gotten caught up on my shelf! I feel like I have many similar tops like this already, though I need to check on how well they’ve held up over the last year. Light blue is a really good color for me and it has a pocket in the front (though it’s a little low for my arms) and it skims perfectly down in the front. I may pull the string out of the neckline if I keep it. They do have two other colors which would be different than what I usually have. Thinking. Thinking.

This next top is definitely going back. It comes up too high in the front and is too flowey and that makes it get that maternity look. If you have a smaller bust than me, it could work. It’s really soft and comes in a lot of colors. Just doesn’t fit this bodacious bod!

These pants are really cute and I like how they fit. They also are a size large petite, but I can’t do brown. I’m sorry! I tried! I thought I would give brown another chance and maybe it would expand my wardrobe, and maybe post-pandemic me would enjoy brown, but no. It is not my favorite color, in fact, it may be my least favorite color. Sorry if you’re a brown lover! I did give it a try! The pants fit well so I’m considering the other colors, navy and black, and a slight patterned version, though I always think I like patterned pants until I try them on. A weird quirk, I know.

I really like this top, though the color is making me think hard about keeping it. I like the way it fits and the length and I like that it is a different neckline. But this brownish color….. and they don’t have it in any other colors… It’s more oatmeal color than brown… could almost look gray? I’m debating….

I’m finally showing pictures of me because I got my hair cut and colored last week and it finally looks presentable! My hair suffered in 2020. It had been wadded up into a bun practically all of the year with a cotton headband wrapped around it until it got long enough for a pony tail and then it spent months in a pony tail. It’s pretty again and back to normal!

I think I’m going to keep my hair long for the time being. It really is easier than having a short, fussy haircut. I really liked my hair cuts pre-pandemic, but they did require that I straighten my hair and frequent hair cuts. I couldn’t get it out of my face with a bun or pony tail so only had one option to wear it. Now that I can do a pony tail, I’m appreciating that option, plus it feels like it’s a good time for a change.

So, I’m heading down to North Carolina to see my mom and sister who I haven’t seen in almost a year. We are all vaccinated so we are having a mini-vacation, get-together for Mother’s Day and my sister’s birthday. I am so excited to see them and see someplace besides this farm and this town! Whew, it’s been a long year!

I don’t know if I’ll have time to write a post next week so just want to give you a heads-up on that. I’ve got a lot coming up this month with us moving out of here so don’t be alarmed if I don’t post. I will try to, but I know there is a lot happening all of a sudden and usually something has to give.

Alright everyone that’s it for me for today. If you’re a Patron I’ll see you on Thursday. If you’re interested in becoming a patron and receiving an extra post each week you can get more info here.

Take care everyone!
