Hey everyone! Hope you’re not all hung over from too much candy last night! Living in the country we don’t get trick-or-treaters so if I buy candy I know it’s going to be eaten by myself so I didn’t purchase any. However, it’s prime apple cider time here and a local orchard where we get cider also makes donuts and they’re always warm when you buy them so I’ve been having that instead of candy!
Anyway, I tore through my casual shoes this spring when I was running around getting the house ready for sale. I make sure I always have at least one pair of shoes that are comfortable, easy to slip on and are casual for running errands and doing a lot of walking. My sandals fill that need when it’s warm but now that it’s cold I had to start looking for a replacement. Comfort is non-negotiable for errand shoes. One of my favorite blogs, Cup of Jo, said these were the most comfortable shoes ever so I thought I’d give them a try.
These shoes (sneakers? kicks? runners?) are made of wool. Yes, wool! I know, it seems weird but they are soft like slippers, just like a sweater on your foot. There is no breaking them in because the wool is pliable and soft and light. I’ve had them for a week now and I’m not noticing any wear or stretching out yet, something I was concerned about. I’m intentionally not wearing socks because I love the feel of the soft wool. I haven’t tried them in the rain yet though wool usually is waterproof. The website says you can just throw them in the washing machine to wash them so they must make it through that process.
I bought them in the olive (though it’s much more like a dark gray) but if these hold up, I am considering the plum. They have lots of other pretty colors like mint and birch as well as classic colors black, gray and white. They also have them in a loafer style. Has anyone else tried these before? I know they were getting a lot of hype but I wanted to know how they hold up long term. The company also uses less packaging and more environmentally friendly products for the sole so that is a nice touch.
Everything else you’ve seen before. I’m wearing my rosewater-colored pants from Talbots (isn’t that a pretty color name?) and my blue jacket I bought in late summer that you’ve seen zipped up here. That jacket has gotten a lot of wear for casual outings and easily gets tossed in the washer and dryer and comes out looking brand new. The jeans are also available in curvy fit and everything at Talbot’s is 30% off right now so if you’ve been waiting for a price break, now is the time. And do I even need to link to the purse anymore?
Special thanks to my friend Denise, who innocently agreed to a coffee-date with me then got coerced into photographing me. She did a good job though didn’t she? Have a good rest of the week everyone!
