The Best Cozy Socks This Winter!

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Anyone have anything fun or exciting happening this weekend? And by exciting I mean in a delightful way, not a “who’s knocking on the door at midnight” excitement kind of way! So, yes, let’s all just hope we all have delightful excitement happening this weekend!

Me? Not a lot planned. I’m only working at the winery on Sunday so I expect to get some house chores done on Saturday. It’s actually pretty cold here right now so staying inside is totally fine with me.

And speaking of cold, can I share with you the best socks that have been keeping me warm all winter? These alpaca socks are from a small business owned by a friend of mine, who lives nearby and raises alpacas. I went to her open house this fall and bought two pairs and then because I absolutely love them, I asked for another pair for Christmas.

The pair I’m wearing in these photos are the soft, gray ones I bought. They are fluffy so they’re not going to fit in tight shoes but they are perfect in boots or just wearing around the house. I make sure I always have one pair clean and ready to go because I may or may not have worn them for several days while waiting for the cleaning fairy to finally do some laundry!

The pair I got for Christmas aren’t as fluffy and don’t feel as soft on the outside but the inside is incredibly soft. They are a pair I can wear tucked inside my skinny jeans or in tighter fitting shoes since they are not as thick as the others.

Also, I just throw all of them in the washing machine on the careless setting and throw them in the dryer on the fry setting and they haven’t shrunk or seized up or anything.

This is not a sponsored post in any way (though Kate if you’re reading this girl could use another pair!), I just have worn the heck out of them this winter (I have them on now as I write this!) and have gotten my money’s worth and they’re still going strong.

Plus, it’s nice to support a local, small business and a friend.

I’m also wearing my old White House Black Market sweater that is now available for a greatly reduced price of $32! If you haven’t snagged one, now is the time! They have it in black and gray and both are on sale. I have this sweater in three colors because I love it so much and it works in soooo many outfits. I’m wearing a size XL.

Also wearing the best pants ever. Sorry you’re so sick of seeing them but really they are so easy to wear and go with everything and are holding up really, really well. I’m wearing size XL.

And finishing off with the comfort bootie winners that are my new go-to shoes this winter. They have a thick rubber sole that helps my poor feeties when I’m standing for long periods of time. Right now, they are 45% off so if you want some comfy, classic booties these are perfect!

Ok, enough about clothes!

Onto my three gratitudes!

One. I’m grateful that as I cast about looking for something to be grateful for, I can look down and see this!

Slavvy splayed out on the floor

Is this the most content cat ever? Remember, our kitchen floors are heated too so that just adds to this contented look. This is Slavvy and he is such an independent, fluffy, racoony boy. Often I’ll see him outside and think he’s a racoon! I love seeing his little pink tummy!

Of course, it does often devolve into this:

Slavvy sticking his sharps into me

(Note the socks I’m wearing? Very good against sharp nails!)

Two. I’m grateful for small, easy ways we can support our democracy. I have been doing some phone-banking for Elizabeth Warren leading up to the Michigan primary and it has been really easy and fun and I’ve met some really nice people. I was worried at first that it would be confrontational (like that I’d be talking to people who were angry and dislike her) but, as I already knew, but needed to be reminded, people are so much nicer when you talk to them face to face (or phone to phone) than they are in comment sections or on Twitter. Social media just seems to bring out the worst in people I think.

Three. I’m grateful to see some bluebirds yesterday and I heard a Sandhill Crane the other day. That reminds me that spring really isn’t that far off and that this least-loved month is coming to a close that I am happily ushering in!

Even though it’s about a month too early for the Sandhill Cranes, since we’ve had a mild winter, perhaps where they spent the winter has gotten warmer earlier so they’re heading north earlier. Actually, I’m not sure where they go for the winter ….. just looking this up …….. Florida, Texas, Utah, Mexico and California. So, has it been a mild winter for any of you that live in those areas?

Ok ladies, that’s it for me for today. Don’t forget to shop my blogger closet sale and may your weekend be delightful excitement that sets your heart a’twitter! (I have no idea where that just came from!) Take care!

  1. Kitty!

I just saved your alpaca socks to my Amazon Gift Wish List for future reference (I only wear socks like 1 day a year).

I can hardly believe March is just like a week away! And so is rent! ha ha.

I don’t know about all those states you mentioned, but here on Long Island, it was CRAZY mild all winter. rarely below freezing, most days were high 30s-low40s with more than a handful of 50 degree days. Only a light dusting of snow back in November. Boo. I think Snow Days are one of life’s greatest gifts and this is now the second winter in a row of NONE. Bah Humbug.

And on that note, enjoy your weekend. Oh, I’m doing moderately fun things… nothing “exciting,” but at least “out of the house.”

  2. I used to have alpaca socks too. I really needed them in Denver. But you’d be surprised at how chilly it was this winter here. Especially because our tile floors are NOT heated!!

  3. I would be spread eagle like your kitty if we had heated floors!! My kitties would never move if we did. There would be a whole new level of laziness at our house. Your socks look very cute with your outfit. Kind of like mini-leg warmers. I like them! I wear boot cuffs to keep the winter drafts from blowing down the shaft of my boots. But our winters are really very mild.
