Hey everyone! So, I meant to show you this dress on it’s own and with a black vest over the top. Unfortunately my camera stopped working before I got the vest on so here is the dress on it’s own. The best laid plans…..
The dress is a nice lighter ponte fabric made of my favorite combination of rayon and stretchy spandex. The sleeves have a little flare at the wrist so it’s an understated way to wear the pretty sleeve trend. It’s also another example of if it looks bad on the model then it will probably work for our shape!
When I bought it (and I saw the fabric in person not online) I thought it was black stripes but it’s actually a really dark blue. I didn’t notice it was blue until I put on the black vest and then you could only see right where the two fabrics were touching each other that the dress is blue. That put a wrench in how I was planning on wearing it I thought.
So, since I don’t have have dark, dark blue tights or shoes I decided to treat it just like black and wore black tights, my black purse and leopard print shoes. This is how I was planning on wearing it when I thought it was still black. In these images and in real life these colors work together because the blue is so dark. If I couldn’t tell it was blue then I was just going to assume other’s couldn’t tell too!
My shoes are several years old but here and here are comparable pairs and this pair looks exactly the same.
And in other news of changed plans… If you’re a regular reader you know that I’ve popped down to North Carolina to get us moved in to our new house but we still have a house in Michigan. We’ve decided to take our Michigan house off of the market until spring since both of our daughters will be commuting to Michigan State University next semester (go green!). I intended to get my husband moved into our NC house then head back up to Michigan but he will be traveling for work and there is so much to do to get us moved in here that I’ve decided to stay here for the whole month of December. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring a month of clothing so you’ll be seeing some of the same things on repeat here. Staying flexible and adapting to change has been my 2017! Have a great weekend everyone!

And I’m glad you wore your black tights and boots, because it’s a perfect example of how black & navy look fabulous together. In fact, I couldn’t even tell!!

Thank you Jodie! I will definitely pull this out again with a vest but I’m thinking I need to be on the look out for dark dark blue boots. Doesn’t that sound fun?
